Life Lessons

Why did you become a teacher? Is it because you like kids? Or because you love sharing knowledge? Maybe you had a teacher who inspired you. When you started, did you have any idea about everything this career entails? That beyond teaching, you would become an advocate for children? As a teacher, you spend a large part of your day with other parents’ children. You see each child’s full potential, and you guide each student to achieve it. You take part in shaping not only your students' education, but also their views of the world. Every day you face energetic and, many times, unfocused young people, and you give them the tools they need to learn and succeed. Your teachings inevitably spill beyond textbooks. You show your students how to interact with their peers. You help them build social skills, solve problems and work together. You do more than teach, you inspire. You should be honored not only for the grades your students achieve, but for the individuals you help them to become. You are one of the last great resources. Thank you.
